Ice, wind, tornado threats highlight holiday season

Last week provided a little bit of everything: ice, rain, wind, frigid temperatures, springlike temperatures, and Christmas. Tuesday, Dec. 23, motorists found themselves in a slick situation on Highway 61 and in town. A 'wintry mix' began taking its toll at around 11 a.m., leaving city streets and parking lots dangerously slick. Visually, the situation wasn't dramatic. There were no icicles dangling from eaves no ice-encased tree limbs. But anyone trying to walk or drive soon found out: it was treacherous.
